J BRAND AND CHRISTOPHER KANE TO RELEASE RESORT 2012 COLLECTION IN NOVEMBER

LOS ANGELES – This November, J Brand and London-based fashion designer and winner of 2011′s Vogue Fashion Fund, Christopher Kane will reveal their Resort 2012 collection, the first of the longterm partnership and business venture of the two brands.

Combining J Brand’s denim expertise with Christopher Kane’s innovative designs, the collection includes original jean fits and denim jackets in bold neon colors, crisp black and white, and vintage medium and dark denim washes.

J Brand and Christopher Kane first partnered in fall 2011, for J Brand’s 5×5 collaboration supporting emerging British fashion design talent.

“Christopher executed a brilliant assortment of vibrant neon brights along with denim and white jeans that are unexpected and fresh,” Jeff Rudes, Founder and CEO of J Brand.

“J Brand is the ‘go to’ company for the fashion denim, so I could not think of anyone better to work with on this. Collaborating with them enabled me to work with neon bright denim as well as classic washes to offer something different for this season that complemented my Resort line. My Resort collection was so much wider this season and I think that the denim worked perfectly along with this,” Christopher Kane.

J BRAND TO DONATE PROCEEDS FROM JEANS IN THREE EXCLUSIVE COLORS TO NONPROFIT, CITY YEAR

LOS ANGELES – On October 18th J Brand will launch a charitable initiative, benefitting the nonprofit organization City Year, which aims to reduce the high school dropout rate by identifying public school students at risk of dropping out and providing them with mentoring, role-model and tutoring services to stay on track.

J Brand has created three limited edition colors, in its skinny fit, for both women and girls to be sold exclusively on its website, jbrandjeans.com, with 100% of the net proceeds of these jeans donated to City Year.

City Year L.A. works closely with the entertainment community to build support for their critical dropout prevention work. CAA, a partner to J Brand, and DreamWorks partner Stacey Snider, who is being recognized for her work with City Year as a 2011 Lifetime Impact Honoree at Variety’s Power of Women event, were instrumental in connecting City Year and J Brand.

“After meeting with Stacey about her support and contribution to City Year, we participated in their ‘Spring Break’ event last year and were so moved that we created a collaboration with CAA and Stacey to raise money for this outstanding organization. High schools just a few miles from where our jeans are produced have some of the highest dropout rates in the nation. As a Los Angeles based company, City Year is a perfect way for J Brand to make a difference and give back to our community,” Jeff Rudes, Founder and CEO of J Brand.

J Brand introduces an exclusive jean for this year’s Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) event, which takes place in cities worldwide on September 8th. In J Brand’s signature Power Stretch denim, the Super Skinny jean in “Coated Shocking Pink,” will be available at select global retail locations participating in FNO and on jbrandjeans.com, with 100% of J Brand’s net proceeds from sales of the style donated to the New York City AIDS Fund in the New York Community Trust.

“It’s great collaborating with Fashion’s Night Out on an exclusive jean and an honor for all of our net proceeds to go to the New York City AIDS Fund,” said Jeff Rudes, Founder and CEO of J Brand.

Occurring annually since 2009, FNO will be held in more than 100 cities in 17 countries this September.  The initiative was established by American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company and the City of New York to celebrate shopping and fashion.  Shoppers can participate in special events at selected locations, purchase exclusive designs and mingle with designers and celebrities.

The New York City AIDS Fund assists community groups with advocacy efforts and programs targeting the local HIV/AIDS epidemic.  Since the fund’s inception, it has awarded about $19 million in grants to 180 New York City nonprofits.

J BRAND RELAUNCHES WEBSITE JBRANDJEANS.COM

J Brand, the rapidly growing premium denim label is launching its newly redesigned website, jbrandjeans.com, aiming to provide customers with a greater ease of online shopping, interactivity and social engagement, and rich behind-the-scenes content.

From the brand’s home page, customers are able to search for styles with ease, understand the label’s fits and denim ‘washes’ through specific style recommendations, and peruse different body angles through enhanced photography and zoom options.  A fit guide feature serves to suggest fits and styling tips based on customers’ body types through sharp imagery and video.  Users also have the ability to “like” and tweet about specific products directly via each product page and share within their various social networks.

Style Notes”, one of the site’s new features, highlights key J Brand silhouettes of the season through the styling expertise of top fashion editors and stylists.  The first of these J Brand experts include LA-based stylist George Kotsiopoulos, NYLON editor-at-large Dani Stahl, and Esquire fashion editor Nic Screws, each demonstrating their expert take on a specific style on-model and providing styling tips via video content.  Customers have the ability to shop each style directly from the on-model images with one-click shopping, as well as share the pages within their social networks via Facebook and Twitter.

In the Pocket”, J Brand’s on-site blog serves as a platform for different J Brand personalities to share behind-the-scenes brand info and a  unique look inside J Brand culture, showcase the brand’s renowned designer collaborations, post celebrity sightings,  and create content dedicated to special guest bloggers.   The first blogger guest appearances include Aimee of Song of Style and Karen of Where Did U Get That.  An integrated side feed gives users the ability to peruse the latest postings on the brand’s Facebook wall and Twitter feed.

Interactivity is taken to a new level with the introduction of J World, where users are transported to a colorful collage of thumbnails of women and men around the world wearing their J Brand jeans.  Users are encouraged and prompted to upload images of themselves donning the brand, which are then added to the menagerie of images on-site.  Upon entering J World, customers are able to search through users’ shots sorted by denim style, gender, location country and city, latest uploaded, and top rated – a unique feature where the image will continue to enlarge as users ‘like’ it.  Customers also have the capability to click and buy straight from a J World image, dependent upon availability.

The website relaunch also serves as a way for J Brand to expand its ‘exclusives’ business – a resource that will house one-of-a-kind product not available for purchase anywhere else.

J BRAND AND CHRISTOPHER KANE ANNOUNCE NEW JOINT VENTURE

Today, following the success of his London show, Christopher Kane, London-based fashion designer and winner of 2011′s Vogue Fashion Fund and iconic US premium denim company, J Brand, announce a new business venture and collaboration.

Kane will launch a J Brand capsule denim collection as part of his Resort 2012. This agreement follows on from a relationship begun a year ago, between Christopher Kane and Jeff Rudes, Founder and CEO of J Brand. The duo first met last February 2010 to discuss working together for J Brand’s 5×5 project in support of young British fashion design talent. The meeting resulted in the creation of a limited edition Christopher Kane / J Brand jean.

The new agreement is for J Brand and Christopher Kane to produce a jeanswear collection using denim and other fabrications that J Brand’s offering encompasses.  The collection will be designed to complement the Christopher Kane business.

This product will be available worldwide via both J Brand and Christopher Kane stockists.

“I am very excited about my new working relationship with J Brand.  We have the potential to grow a very strong denim business and are thrilled to be working with the best in the business” says Kane.
