If you are planning a trip to LACMA soon or just want a fun atmosphere as you sip a glass of wine and enjoy some great cuisine we recommend Ray’s and Stark Bar. We found ourselves instantly attracted by the restaurant’s red accents and fun location. This restaurant/bar is located in the museum’s courtyard – next to the ticket booth. It’s easy to find and very conveniently located.
As we walked into the restaurant, we were already impressed by the friendly staff and the uniquely presented table setting. As soon as we sat down we were impressed by the first small detail, the guest’s personal drawer for his or her silverware.

Excited to sit down, grab a bite and enjoy some wine, we ordered a glass of Sparkling Brut, Cuvée 20, as well as a glass of Torre di Luna, Pinot Grigio. Both well suited drinks for a warmer evening. Try a red if you are there on a chilly night.

After browsing the dinner menu quietly, we ordered the Benedict Burger and a side of Macaroni & Gratin/Gruyere to share. We find it impossible to not order a Mac & Cheese plate when it is on a menu. As we waited for our food, the restaurant gave us a complimentary quick bite to open our appetite. It was healthy, small and very tasty.

As soon as we finished our bite and sipping our spirits, our beautiful burger and marconi arrived. The Benedict Burger was presented to us just the way we thought when we read it in the menu. It was not an ordinary burger. Resembling the famous breakfast dish: Eggs Benedict, there was the bun on the bottom topped with dry aged chop steak, house brioche, red onion confit, gruyere, watercrese, bearnaise, and topped with a sunny egg, accompanied with a side of fries. Delicious!

The macaroni side was presented in a hot plate that was generous enough for the both of us. It was exactly what anyone wants in a macaroni and cheese plate: cheese, cheese, cheese.

At this point, we would usually have room for dessert but found ourselves quite full and didn’t think to look at the dessert menu. But the waiter did not want us to leave without a sweet bite, so we received another complementary dish. The dessert resembled very closely to an Oreo cookie. We loved the service, the location and the food. So if you are finding it difficult to pick your next outing, perhaps you want to shake things up and head to Ray’s.
